Japanese Translators
October 6th, 2005 by AlieraFirst, there are a few projects that I’d like to get moving again. Pretty much, the translator is too busy with other things, and it’d be great if someone would offer to translate a chapter or two for either: Twin Spica or Niea_7.
Secondly, I’d love to pick up Tom Sawyer, the latest work from Takahashi Shin. He’s best known for Saikano, iihito, or you might have read the translations of his more recent work, Kimi no Kakera. Which is also a great series. Anyway, there are just three chapters of Tom Sawyer out so far, anyone interested in translating it..? Joint projects are welcome.
Other possible future projects:
Gennei Harukankai or Hatsukanezumi no Jikan by Toume Kei. Either, becuase i’ll take the all the Toume Kei i can get ![]()
HistoriĆ© by Hitoshi Iwaaki. Best known for Kiseiju (parasite). It’s a historical fiction manga, and I hear it’s very good.
If anyone is interested, you just need Japanese language skills (of course), an image viewer and text editor. IRC access would be nice but is optional. There aren’t any deadlines, if you can do a chapter every now and then, that would be ideal. Finally, while i’m probably killing my chances of anyone volunteering, most of the manga we need help with or would like to do don’t have any furigana. Sorry. Contact me at Aliera[at]@gmail.com or reply here.

I’ll edit anything by Toume if you manage to get translator and need editor. Too bad I can barely differentiate between kanji/katakana/furigana so I can’t help with the translations. But anyways, if a need arises, just mail me or poke in irc.

I’m probably being masochistic, but I’d be happy to help translate some of the manga for your site. The thought of no furigana is a little daunting, but I think I can handle it. (*^_^*)
I haven’t heard of any of the series you mentioned so I looked them up on google. Not much info on Tom Sawyer, but the other two looked interesting. I’ve got lots of free time during the week, so I’d be happy to do any of them. I do have IRC access but have no idea how to use it.
I’m not completely fluent in Japanese, but I know about 800 kanji and studied it for 4 years at uni. Now I’ve lived in a tiny town in Japan for a little over a year. I’m taking the JLPT level 2 in December. If you’d like my help with any of the projects, feel free to contanct me at shoofli (at) hotmail.com
